Day 3 Buriton to Cocking

After a an early night in our wonderfully comfortable bed, a top notch cooked breakfast and coffee, we felt revived and ready for our day ahead. "Papa" was joining us for the next stretch so was decked out in his obligatory orange t-shirt and balloon and at 10am we strode out, once again bathed in sunshine.

The path was largely farm dirt tracks with gentle inclines and very soon we were shedding layers! The views were typically "Downsy" and the Way was fairly busy with walkers, most of whom were happy to donate to the mad orange brigade.

This was a beautiful view of the village of South Harting which, due to a misunderstanding (!) we walked down in to!! It was a VERY steep slope down into the village and a very long and steep walk back up the road to where we should have been - a tiring mistake!

A reviving wine gum or two and a sizeable donation from some cyclists made us all feel a bit better! We did however start to notice some of the O.A.Ts (Orange Avoidance Tactics!!) at this point - a group were enjoying the sunshine sitting on the hill, when we started to walk towards them they scarpered to the safety of their camper van with some sudden urgent business!!

When we stopped for lunch at Harting Down we sat near a large group of walkers who after about 20 minutes came over to ask what we were doing - they thought we were promoting a certain mobile phone company! Once we had explained the cause they then were very generous with their donations.

The promise of a G&T or pint at the end sped us along to Cocking where we arrived at 3.30 after a long,  steep slope which really made our knees ache! Another amazing day.
